Micro-teaching II Evaluation by Lina Saliby
Micro-teaching II Evaluation by Lina Saliby
As
for my lesson plan, I consider it concise, and the objectives are clearly stated.
I pointed the main targets and did my best to reach them. I wanted my Gr 4
students to understand the meaning of each preposition of place linking it to
nouns, pronouns, phrases or other words, and use them correctly in contexts.
With respect to the teaching activity, I chose the
developmental activities to present in the recorded micro-teaching. This time the
warm up activity is not missing; as it was in my first micro-teaching lesson. Blip
and Blab are famous are famous, well known language explorers, and the choice
of the song episode about prepositions of place was very interesting for Gr 4 students. From my previous experience my students enjoy a lot these movies and memorize
very quickly the grammar lessons. So that they are able to catch up the
highlighted words, and write them on colored papers; that is using arts. So the
different models of communication are used; looking, listening, speaking and writing,
just to make sure students are became familiar to the prepositions of place. Also
I paid attention for the interaction between me and my students. Then came the
game to emphasize the location of the ball seen by my students by their naked
eyes ,and expand the number of prepositions ,maximum to ten, but not more, or
else Gr 4 will be confused. The group work for three to five minutes is always
successful; from my previous experience. Students will be excited, all involved,
and work quicker. Most of the answers will be correct too.
Extra worksheets help me to fulfill my task perfectly,
so that my students will be able to identify prepositions in context; the
climax of my objective. Not to forget I want them to correlate the usage of
prepositions of place to normal daily life objects, which are in their class.
For example, the pencil is on the desk, the book is under the table, the ruler
is in the bag…..etc. They did sentences from their own as well. Besides the
writing exercise, which is given as homework, describing their house both from
inside and outside, keeping in mind that we did a similar exercise about the
bedroom in class, and correct it in class too. So that they don’t need their
parents help.
All the time, I make sure to feel self confident and assertive,
and this is my character anyway. Also I pay special attention to use positive
and supportive feedback .Finally the time management was almost perfect around
19 min. All of the above I consider them my positive points.
But after
watching the recorded movie three times today ,I have to admit certain unprofessional
weak points, which I can easily work on to improve in my teaching career. First
of all, the use of the board, I have to write clearly the title, for they are
Grade 4 students. Regularly, in my class, I always pay attention to this issue,
but I don’t know what happened to me. Still I wanted ten prepositions, but I only
wrote seven on the board (weak point).I also didn't mention that it s a grammar
lesson.
Then the Game Box was efficient, but I should engage
my students to share with me this game! For example I should have asked them;”put
the ball on the Box?”And wait for them to apply the game correctly. Also exercise
2 was appendix C, and not B.
My language was weak in some places, I wasn't all the
time speaking fluently and freely, probably I was a little bit nervous.
For instance, one time I said “as my keys are behind
my back” but in fact I have said “my red pen is behind my back?!”
In conclusion I need to work and train myself more. But
I am sure after some time and patience; I will master the profession of
teaching the English language.
